AB125 Rose Water Sprinkler
Turquoise is one of the handmade made by mosaically setting turquoise stones pieces on the surface of metals, jewelry and decorative objects (using copper, bronze, silver and brass base). Usually, type of dark lacquer is set among the turquoise stone pieces. It is noticeable that the more the turquoise containers have turquoise stone pieces and the less the distance among turquoise stone pieces is, the more they value. This art was started in Mashhad for the first time 60 to 70 years ago then became prevalent in Isfahan.
Making and polishing turquoise containers contain two steps:
- Gilding: means making and preparing considered objects using the above-mentioned metals that is done by hand, press or both of them. After making the general form of object, special points must be determined for setting turquoise stone pieces on the surface.
- At first, rubble, trash and other stones existed in turquoise stone pieces must be separated then they categorized in term of size to be appropriate for hammering.
During the next step, the considered object is heated inside the oven up to 30 c and, while heating, the walnut lacquer is sprayed on the parts on which turquoise stones are set so that the lacquer power melts and covers the surface. While, the glue or lacquer is soft and sticky, try to set the pieces of stone smoothly on the considered place and the distance among the stones must be low as much as possible to help the stone stick together. Mostly, the heat is increased to some extent (nearly 40 c) in order to fill possible distances among stones and some lacquer is sprayed on them again, until, the lacquer layer melts. Then, small stones are set among the big stones to have consistent surface and the surface is pressed by hand to make them stick to the surface and become hard after cooling the parts sprayed. During the next step, parts covered with lacquer and turquoise stones are grinded by sanding in the water in order to remove the additional lacquer and trivial bump of stones and make them smooth and polished. Then, turquoise stones and parts with lacquer are appended in blue and black, respectively. In this part, if there was any distance among the stones, it would be modified and stones polished again.
